Secules Consulting LLC

is a single member LLC incorporated in Pennsylvania with Thomas E. (Tom) Secules as the sole member.

After earning a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Lafayette College, I took a job with Bethlehem Steel Corporation's Fabricated Steel Construction Division. As a "Looper" I experienced the various areas of the business, ranging from structural steel design, estimating and drafting to contract management, fabrication and erection. A short 3 1/2 years after I started, the division was closed.
I was transferred to the corporation's wire rope division, where I spent the next 40+ years with Bethlehem and their corporate successors in the wire rope business. Tapping my civil engineering and structural fabrication background, I became the staff specialist for structural applications of the wire rope and strand products.
In this role, I was a resource for design engineers working with the products, reviewing and recommending specifications, standards and products. For structural inquiries, quotations and orders, I reviewed designs and specifications and provided the technical input required to quote the projects, enter orders, manufacture or procure the components and fabricate the assemblies.
I was an interface between the company and outside testing and inspection providers as needed. If problems arose at a jobsite with use or installation of the products, I handled them, usually over the phone, but also onsite when necessary.
Projects and smaller orders were delivered throughout the USA and parts of Canada, and as far as Australia, South Africa, South America and the Caribbean.

Professionally:

Registered P.E. in Pennsylvania and Texas, and registered, but inactive in Kentucky

Life Member ASCE, over 20 years as Vice-Chair of ASCE 19 committee responsible for the standard for steel cables in buildings.

Over 20 years as company's representative to the Wire Rope Technical Board, including past Chairman. Continuing as a contributing member of the US TAG to ISO TC105. Designated national expert for ISO standard 19427 under development for PPWS for suspension bridge main cables.
